Maori Knowledge Assessment – MKA
The Maori Knowledge Assessment (MKA) has been designed with both Maori and non-Maori people in diverse organisations to acknowledge society’s need to recognise Maori culture in the business world and everyday work interactions.
The MKA assesses four elements of Maori knowledge:
- · Marae protocol
- · Maori Language
- · Selected Cultural Practices
- · and The Treaty of Waitangi.
This assessment then delivers a report designed to provide a rating of a participants overall knowledge in these elements, summarised as “Maori knowledge”.
In using this tool, employers can more accurately assess the level of Maori knowledge of current and prospective employees, as well as detect gaps in staff’s knowledge of Maori culture that can be prioritised in training and development if appointed.
As with all assessment products promoted by us, the MKA measures candidates against an appropriate New Zealand norm-group and has passed stringent tests of reliability and validity.
